Make your project a success with Jacquard! Alum is used to pretreat fabric or paper before marbling to ensure that designs transfer clearly - an essential as one of your marbling supplies. It is also used as a mordant with some natural dyes. Easy to use and extremely effective!
About this product:
- Used to pre-treat fabric or paper before marbling so designs transfer well;
- Used with some natural dyes as a mordant - a substance used in dyeing to fix the coloring matter;
- This alum is made of fine crystals. It can even be used for science projects like growing your own crystal;
- Contains 450 g of potassium aluminum sulfate.
Instructions
For Fabric Marbling:
Dissolve 2 teaspoons / 10 grams of Alum in 3,79 L of warm water. Immerse fabric in solution until wet, wring out (do not rinse) and let air dry. Fabric will be ready to marble when dry, and it may be ironed before marbling.
For Paper Marbling:
Dissolve 2 teaspoons / 10 grams of Alum in 0,95 L of water. Spray or sponge on the solution to lightly coat the paper. Let dry completely before marbling.
