With deep respect for tradition and the environment, Awagami blends centuries-old techniques with modern innovation, collaborating with artists worldwide to expand the possibilities of washi. Honored by the Japanese Emperor and recognized as a cultural treasure, the Fujimori family continues to preserve and share the timeless art of washi with creators around the globe.
About this product:
- Japanese Fine Art Paper in off-white color, with four deckle edges;
- Sold by 1 sheet;
- Awagami Shiramine Select Natural paper is 110 g/m2 thick and is made of 55% alpha cellulose, 30% Kozo and 15% Hemp;
- Traditional Japanese woodblock printing, or moku hanga, has for centuries utilised paper made from the inner bark of the paper mulberry tree - kozo;
- Kozo fibres are long and will create very strong and absorbent paper even when made thin and if dampened;
- This paper is great for many art mediums including printmaking, drawing, embossing, mixed-media and alt.pro photography.
- Shiramine Select has 2 distinct textures: a front smooth side contrasted by a more organic textured back side (both of which may be used with equal effectiveness);
- Since it is unsized, this paper is fairly absorbent.
