Description
Block Print for Beginners – Elise Young, Walter Foster Publishing
Walter Foster Publishing is a publisher founded in 1922 in Laguna Beach, California, by artist Walter T. Foster. Today part of The Quarto Group, it is regarded as the world's leading publisher of instructional art books and kits for both adults and children. This book was written by Elise Young — a printmaker living and working in Toronto, Canada, who founded her creative studio Bloomingprint in 2016. Her work is mainly inspired by nature, especially florals and botanical motifs.
About this book:
- From basics to finished print – the book walks you step by step through the entire creative process, from transferring a drawing onto a linoleum sheet and carving it, to applying ink and achieving the desired result;
- A range of printing techniques – covering one- and two-colour printing, multicolour combined printing, traditional carving, hand-colouring prints, mosaic-effect printing, as well as gradual colour-blending, puzzle-cut, and multiplate printing;
- Practical, creative projects – the book offers examples for making bookmarks, greeting cards, distinctive gift wrap, tea towels, and even your own wallpaper;
- Perfect for beginners and hobbyists – clear, step-by-step instructions and plentiful illustrations make it easy even for those with no prior experience to create their own unique prints;
- A richly illustrated paperback – this 144-page book is part of the Inspired Artist series, designed to make art an easy, engaging, and pressure-free learning experience.
